Raksha Bandhan Celebrations by Brahma Kumaris in Sri Lanka

Western Sri Lanka : Senior Rajayogi BK Sheilu, from the Brahma Kumaris Head Quarters in Mount Abu, and BK Neeru were honoured with a tilak, crown and chunni and welcomed to Sri Lanka with cultural programs.

BK Sheilu gave a class on “Becoming free from gross and subtle bondages of Karma” and “Stages of Soul consciousness” after which Raksha Bandhan was celebrated with BKs of the Colombo zone. It was also the fortune of celebrating BK Sheilu’s 50th year of surrendered life.

A Rakhi program was organized for dignitaries and friends, followed by a talk on “Discovering Unending Treasures.”

Northern Province: In Jaffna, BK Sheilu met BKs and offered a class for mothers over 55 years of age. She then tied Rakhi to the GA of Jaffna. In the evening there was a welcome programme and a class on ”Avyakt Sustenance”

In Jaffna there was a celebration for Raksha Bandhan with other district BKs (from Vavuniya, Mullaithevu, Kilinochi and Mannar) of the Northern province.

BK Neeru gave a class on yoga experimentation in action to the Jaffna BKs while other districts tied Rakhi with BK  Sheilu.

The next day there was a class on “Return to the Source” and also a question-and-answer session with BKs.

Eastern Province : In Trinco in the evening BK Sheilu was the main spiritual resource for the celebration of Raksha Bandhan with BKs, leaders and dignitaries, and neighbours while BK Neeru gave a lecture programme at the Eastern Provincial Council.

In Batticaloa, BK Sheilu gave a class on “Let us speed up our efforts by catching the signals of the present time” and also explained about the deep significance of Raksha Bhandan and tied Rakhi for the Batticaloa and surrounding area BKs.

BK Sheilu gave a class on “Connection with Deep Yoga and Purity” and tied Rakhi for serviceable kumaris and young mothers (below 50 years old) at the spiritual art gallery.  She then took a class on “Will Power” and tied Rakhi for Kalmunai, Echilampattu and Monaragale BKs.

BK Neeru gave a talk on “The benefits of Rajayoga Meditation” for VIP’s after which BK Sheilu gave a talk on ‘’Raksha Bandan” and tied Rakhi to them. The Veerakesari newspaper featured an interview with BK Sheilu.

Central Province :  In Kandy, there was a program with BK Sheilu for leaders and dignitaries on the topic “Harmony – Call of the Time,” followed by a Rakhi tying for them. The Assistant High Commissioner of India also participated.

The next day there was a Rakhi program for BKs in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ragalle, Welimada, Badulla, Bandarawela and Maskeliya.

BK Sheilu visited the Matale centre, tied Rakhi to BKs, and gave a talk on “Peaceful Living “ for leaders and dignitaries, and tied Rakhi to them.

On the following day, a half-day retreat for Kandy and Matale BKs was organised. BK Sheilu shared her rich experiences in her spiritual journey which inspired everyone.

Then BK Neeru conducted a programme on “Women’s Empowerment” at the Muslim Ladies Union in Kandy, and also a session on “Self-Empowerment” to the Hospital Cancer Home in Kandy.

BK Sheilu gave a lecture on “Happiness: A Lifestyle” at the Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI) Auditorium and tied Rakhi to the participants. After the program she met with Assistant High Commissioner H.E. Dhirendra Singh.

BK Sheilu and BK Neeru enriched everyone with the spiritual classes and experiences. They tied 1771 Rakhi all over Sri Lanka.
