Program for Faculty of Leadership and Management of the Islamic Science University of Malaysia

Malaysia: A public program was jointly organized with the Faculty of Leadership and Management of the Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM) and the Brahma Kumaris Malaysia (BKM) at the premises of USIM where BK Sister Jayanti delivered a talk on the theme “Transforming Hearts and Minds to Transform the World” followed by a question and answer session.

About 80 participants attended the talk; the attendees consist of lecturers and students of USIM, members of BKM and the public. The crowd was a mix of Muslims and non-Muslims. USIM prepared a publicity brochure stating it is jointly organised by USIM and BKM and sent to many government agencies and universities around that area.

In her talk, BK Sister Jayanti mentioned about the Million Minutes of Peace and the Global Cooperation for the Better World projects in creating the awareness of peace and human values and introduced the awareness of our self-identity as points of light and their intrinsic values. She also highlighted values are caught not taught. In order to bring transformation, one has to be cool headed, warm hearted, walk the talk and connected with the powerhouse. Everyone was listening attentively and absorbing the lecture that faces began to shine. They were very impressed with the talk. It was such an awakening lecture. Some audience shared their experiences while listening to the talk – ‘calm feeling like meditating at the beach’, ‘experiencing positive aura’, and ‘experiencing like being on top of a mountain’. For them it was such a joyful morning.

After the public program, Sis. Jayanti and the BKM team had a meeting with the core group of the faculty to provide answers to deeper questions they had about Brahma Kumaris. The questions emerged were ‘whether we do any rituals’, ‘clarity on the concept of creation’,  ‘difference between them and us’, ‘how do we promote values in our organization’, ‘how do we deal with terrorism’, ‘how did we become strong and spread our wing around the world ‘and ‘transgender issues’.

BK Sister Jayanti gave them simple and clear answers The meeting ended with the conclusion to continue collaborations in various areas such as having regular deliberations on selected topics, conduct common research projects in the area of spirituality, common social activities, approach to counselling, models for religious unity etc. Towards this end, both parties will submit proposals based upon which a Joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be developed and signed by both parties at an appropriate time. To start the ball rolling a monthly get together will be held and the venue rotated.
