“My India, Addiction-Free India” Program at Saraswati University, Kalwari

Kalwari  ( Uttar Pradesh ): The Saraswati University of Kalwari organized a National Service Scheme Camp in which the Brahma Kumaris of Anandpuri Colony Centre, Hathras, arranged an Awareness Program in connection with their National Campaign, “My India, Addiction-Free India.” Students were taught Rajayoga Meditation and were inspired to remain ever-free from harmful addictions in their life. They were made to know that “Rajayoga Practice is the only means of escape from tension, not liquor consumption.”

BK Dinesh explained the various ill effects caused mainly due to tobacco and alcohol. He said that the after-effects of de-addiction can be overcome by the regular practice of Rajayoag Meditation. He further said that none of the members of the Brahma Kumaris Organization, wearing the badge and practicing Rajayoga regularly, ever try to become addicted to such bad habits.

BK Shanta, Coordinator of this “My India, Addiction-Free India” Campaign in Hathras, said that everyone is aware that addictions are very harmful, and so want to become free from them. But due to lack of Will Power, they fail in their attempts. She said, The “consistent habit of addictions makes one mentally and physically diseased, loss of wealth also, however, is inevitable.” She introduced Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram, the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, Shiva, to all the students and guided them in having an experience of Soul Consciousness for two minutes with her guided commentary. She motivated them that they will remain free from the bad habit of addiction and keep their families and society also away from it.

BK Gajendra inspired the students with slogans such as “Sunday Ho Ya Monday, Nashey Ko Maaro Dandey” (“Let it be Sunday or Monday, Beat the Intoxication with a Batton”); “Dhhai Inch Ki Beedi Hai, Mouth Ki Yahi Cidi Hai (“Rolled Tobacco 2.5 inch Long, is a Staircase Leading to Death”); “Dhumrapaan, Madyapaan Jeevan Ko Kartey Narak Samaan” (“Smoking and Drinking Renders Life Like Hell”); and “Sarwa Sreshttha Nasha – Narayani Nasha (“Intoxicated in Love of God is the Best Intoxication”).

In the Kalyani Temple Kalwari, the Priest of the Temple was so impressed that he instantly took a promise that he will never smoke beedies in life, which he had the habit of, and discarded all that he had in stock in the sacrificial bin.

Dr. Devprakash Yadav, Coordinator of this National Service Scheme Camp, extended his gratitude and expressed his appreciation to the Brahma Kumaris for their participation with the noble Campaign “My India, Addiction-Free India”.

Mr. Raju Singh, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Mr. Alok Kumar, Mr. Anand Chakravarti, and Mr. Mrudul Dixit, Teachers of Saraswati University, were all present in this National Service Scheme Camp with all admiration.
