Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari appreciates Brahma Kumaris for Empowering Farmers to be Self-Reliant

Mount Abu ( Rajasthan ): A two-day e-conference was held by the Agriculture and Rural Wing of the Brahma Kumaris on the theme “सशक्त भारत की शान – आत्म निर्भर किसान”( The Pride of Empowered Bharat – Self Reliant Farmer ).

Honorable Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, said, It’s a dream of the Honorable Prime Minister to make India self-sufficient, which also means to make rural areas, farmers, laborers, and poor people self-sufficient. For this, we need to understand the existing problems in villages.

Firstly, the water shortage problem needs to be resolved. There are many villages where there is no sufficient water and thus farmers face a huge shortage for agriculture. Our NGO has been awarded for contributing to supply a huge quantity of water through the ‘Buldhana Pattern’ project for water conservation.

Secondly, crop pattern is another problem that needs focus. Today, in India, there is surplus availability of wheat, maize, rice, and sugar. We are also working on the project to manufacture ethanol as an alternative to petrol and diesel. Farmers and common people would also be able to avail of flex engine which uses cheap ethanol use”. Adding to this, he also shared the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides, and how organic farming is the ultimate solution. Sharing the various ways to do organic farming, he said, “Amino acids produced from human hairs can be used as organic fertilizer. One drop, one crop can also be one of the solutions to the existing problems.” While concluding, he thanked Brahma Kumaris for coming up with the E-Conference for making farmers self-sufficient and appreciated them for already practicing organic farming.

BK Raju, Vice-Chairperson, Agriculture & Rural Development Wing, R.E.R.F welcomed all dignities saying, “I’m honored and delighted to share that Brahma Kumaris is organizing two days E-Conference for the farmers, who are India’s pride. Seniors of Brahma Kumaris and Project members of Shaswt Yogic Farmic will be sharing their valuable experiences during these two days of E-Conference. I’m sure this conference will benefit in one’s spiritual growth and helps to learn a new way of meditative style organic farming”.

BK Brij Mohan, Additional Secretary General of Brahma Kumaris shared: ” Brahma Kumaris Agriculture & Rural Development Wing, R.E.R.F is already working on various projects to make the rural life self-sufficient. The Wing has managed to conduct various campaigns on making the rural people free from drug addiction. Also, the Wing is tirelessly working on hygiene and Yogic Farming ( Meditative Farming ) projects. The Shaswat Yogic Farming ( Sustainable Yogic Agriculture ) has benefited numerous farmers by improving the quality of their agriculture. The results have been scientifically proven and undertaken by various rural areas and Agricultural Universities”. He concluded by sharing about the spiritual karma farming as seeding only those karmas that give positive and fruitful results for many births.

BK Sarla, Chairperson of the Agriculture and Rural Development Wing said, “Our ancient India which used to be self-sufficient with greenery in nature and happiness in the hearts of all, has now degraded with the usage of pesticides and vices engulfing everyone. We are today focusing more on materialistic development but that is not all enough to make India self-sufficient. For this, we need to empower farmer’s mind with spirituality, thus they will enlight with the beautiful character that emerges as a self-sufficient self and ultimately making India self-sufficient. Also, financial issues of farmers can be resolved with a unique project being run by the Brahma Kumaris Rural Wing – Sustainable Yogic Farming. This project focuses on less expenditure and more production with good quality.”
