Mateshwari Jagadamba Saraswati: An Epitome of Strength, a Mother to all

Sparkling with the spirit of strength in her eyes, she was a true mystic with the spiritual magnetic powers reflecting from her as eight forms of Goddess. She was the first Administrative Head of Brahma Kumaris, who was greatly admired as ‘Mama’ for her motherly divine love that nurtured and empowered everyone with purity and bliss. In fact, she was mother to not just a few but her unlimited sustenance through the light of divine love and spiritual knowledge surrounding the whole universe entitled her as ‘Mateshwari Jagadamba Saraswati’.

Early Life

Mateshwari Jagadamba Saraswati originally named Radhe Pokardas Rajwani was born in 1919, in Amritsar ( Punjab ) to father Pokardas and mother Rocha. She was the middle of three sisters, between older sister Parvati ( who was already married ), and younger sister Gopi. Her father was in the wholesale business, which later faced a huge commercial transaction loss, leading to his death due to heart attack from shock. Then, Radhe with her mother moved from Amritsar to Hyderabad, Sindh.

There was an atmosphere of immense grief in a home since two of the sisters, mother Rocha and Dadi Dhyani, had lost their husbands at that time. To experience solace, they both started going to spiritual gathering conducted by Brahma Baba ( founding jewel of Brahma Kumaris ), where receiving the true knowledge of the soul helped them overcome the grief of losing their husbands, and brought back happiness to their lives. Seeing her mother Rocha blooming again, Radhe accompanied her mother to a spiritual gathering of Brahma Baba, then called Om Mandali.

Education

Mama did her primary education in Mumbai, where she learned English, Gujrati, and reading and writing Gurumukhi. Later, after her father’s death, the family shifted to Sindh, Hyderabad, in Pakistan, where she continued her further studies at Kundanmal Girls High School ( now known as Jamia Arabia High School ). During that time, Mama lived in Haroo Sadwani Paro in Sindh.

Mama and Dadi Prakashmani knew each other even before they met at Om Mandali, the spiritual gathering. Both of them did their schooling at Kundanmal Girls High School and were classmates. They shared the same bench but were not very close friends as Mama was modern and Dadi Prakashmani was quite simple. But, since both were classmates, they were friendly and loving to each other. Mama had a beautiful sweet singing voice and was graceful in singing too. Dadi Prakashmani first saw Mama during the school function where Mama danced to “Twinkle Twinkle little star…” for which she was awarded many prizes. At that time Mama was just 16 years old. She was not just skilled with various art forms but also the meritorious student of her school.

Mama was a bright jewel decorated with all divine virtues. Her spiritual royalty was reflected through her every act. Even if the hardest of situations came her way, she always remained stable and smiling. Nothing in the world could shake her firm faith in God. She was a selfless and tireless server, completely dedicated in God’s mission. Mama served everyone not just through her acts, but even though her every thought and sweet loving word – strengthening and making the person double-light. She used to constantly remain in God’s remembrance, because of which everyone had a spiritual attraction towards her. Her pure vision transformed and cooled down the burning fire of sensual desires in a person. She was royal and at the same time very humble to do the most ordinary task by herself. Her clean heart made her the most loving and the most detached from all kinds of limited possessions.

Mama had spiritual maturity in her, which mirrored as nourishing everyone with Godly versions and divine powers. She was so merciful and accepting, forgiving the mistake of others and empowering them to not repeat the mistakes. Her sweet smiling face and divine sharing of knowledge wiped off the tears from one’s eyes, bringing the light of hope and inspiring miraculously to overcome every hurdle.

She never said no to any service and believed that if God has given the task of serving humanity, He would also provide the strength to do it. She always considered every moment as the last moment, thus utilizing every second of her life in the best way. Her determined thoughts concentrated and focused on herself and one God that made her so unique from others.

The Last Days – Ascending to Angelic Form

Years later, Mama was diagnosed with cancer and was told that she would be able to survive for just 3 to 4 months more. Despite knowing this fact, there was not even a trace of fear or worry on her face. Her strong faith in God and carrying his strength along the way of her life kept her unshakable even during her last days. Though cancer did engulf Mama’s body completely but nowhere she altered her daily routine. From practicing meditation in the early hours of the day to reading Godly versions or even doing spiritual service, every single task was done with the same accuracy and lightness. No one ever saw any signs of illness on her face, she remained happy, carrying, and nurturing until her last breath.

It was the day 24 June 1965 at 10 am in the morning, when Mama met brothers and sisters for the last time, addressed them through the silent language of smile and love, showered upon them blessings through her powerful vision, and offered a holy sweet of banana and grapes to all. While brothers and sisters were meeting Mama, they had no idea that Mama was going to leave her body a few hours later and will no longer be with them in the corporeal form. Though cancer survivors are not even able to sit for a long period, but Mama gave her loving sustenance even in her last time, which became practical proof of how well she conquered her body through the power of meditation. Between 4 pm to 4:10 pm on the same day, Mama renounced her mortal coil and flew to God Shiva for her next Godly service of the world transformation. Her legacy of wisdom, purity, spiritual powers and divine love will always be a guiding light for everyone in the world.
