International Day of Tolerance Observed by Brahma Kumaris St. Petersburg, Russia

St. Petersburg ( Russia )Tolerance: Our Strength, Not Weakness!

An experiential meditative session “The Garland of Lights” took place at Lighthouse, the Brahma Kumaris Center in St. Petersburg.

The event was dedicated to the International Day of Tolerance declared by UNESCO and to the UN’s World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, and was held on the 3rd Sunday of November 2019.

By using the language of dance, poetry and video vignettes, the session guided the audience to delve deeply into a subtler dimension of tolerance, forgiveness and acceptance.

A series of meditations in silence offered everyone present in the Diamond Hall of Lighthouse the opportunity to send their good wishes of peace and love to all those who are in dire need of that in today’s world.

Speaking about the value of tolerance, BK Santosh, Senior Raja Yoga Teacher and Director of the Brahma Kumaris in St. Petersburg, Russia, said, “We only have difficulties with tolerance if we think that it deprives us of something. We are habitual of seeing it in terms of having to adjust, give up, and lower ourselves. However, spirituality enables us to see tolerance as our strength, rather than weakness. In fact, tolerance has nothing to do with other people’s behavior! Rather, to be tolerant means to be constantly aware of one’s innate dignity and fullness. As I become established in the awareness of me being a soul full of peace, love and power, a child of the Supreme Parent of all the souls, the living lights in this world, I develop the capacity to forgive, accept, and assimilate.”

The session that took place in St. Petersburg was also webcast in about 20 other cities of Russia and in other countries.
