Value Education & Spirituality will be part of India’s New Education Policy: Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal
New Delhi: A National Conference on ‘New Education for New India’ was held under the Education Wing of the Brahma Kumaris Organization in association with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre here today.
Inaugurating the Conference, HRD Minister of India Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal said “Under the Prime Minister’s inspiration, the proposed New Education will form the road map for a new, healthy, wealthy, happy and developed India with integration of India’s rich culture, heritage, universal values and spirituality into the country’s education system and curriculum.”
He said that education being the backbone of our society, the education ministry has asked for public suggestions to make this policy wholesome and foolproof. Out of more than one lakh (100,000) suggestions received from the public to date, about 60% of suggestions on the integration of value education and spirituality are already incorporated in the proposed education policy. On public demand, the last date of receiving suggestions has been advanced to two weeks more.
The draft policy received an overwhelming response from all the stakeholders. HRD Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal added that now is the time to add new thought processes which would help the empowerment of India’s youth and the creation of healthy India. This kind of approach would help in building a society which is peaceful, happy and healthy. He appreciated the efforts of the Brahma Kumaris towards this direction.
He also added the importance of the environment in the education system for which the government is planning to introduce plantation drives which would carry the responsibility of planting but also nurturing the plants. He said India has a rich culture, vasudhava katumbakam, meaning we consider this world as our family.
Shri DP Singh, Chairman of the University Grant Commission (UGC), said that India is a value-based society. Our values form the foundation of our society and we envision new India as one which is giving hope, direction and is blessed with morals and values in our youth.
He said our approach should not be limited to sustainable development but would include enlightenment, enrichment with indigenous knowledge, traditional wisdom and strength; this is possible if we focus on the implementation of new education policy at an individual level.
Adding new programs, Shri DP Singh said that the University Grant Commission has started student induction and faculty induction programs. These programs would help in training faculty for idea generation and thought provocation, and inculcation of life skills.
Dr. BK Mruthyunjaya, Chairperson, Education Wing of the Brahma Kumaris from Mount Abu, said “Value-Based Education is the need of the hour and the purpose of the education is not only employment but enlightenment and enrichment. He stressed that the education system is now commercialized which should be granted free of cost as a fundamental right.
He added that the Brahma Kumaris is conducting projects, called Clean the mind, Green the Earth, which educates people on the importance of thoughts and a clean mind in observation of society and its impact on green India. A program is being conducted nationwide in schools on Clean India and Green India for sensitizing students about the importance on the environment and taking steps towards the environment.
He presented some suggestions, which include the formation of a global spiritual university, building a thought laboratory in every university, and dedicating a time period in every university for self introspection, introduction and teachings of values in school curriculum, and spiritual sessions in universities. He also stressed the importance of a Hindi policy in the new education policy.
BK Shivani, Spiritual Educator and now Motivational TV icon, presented the keynote address and said that today the emotional health of students is not being catered to at homes and at schools as well. She said the emotional health of students is significant in today’s times. She said that we not only want skilled professionals or the economic development of the country but at the same time we want a nation which is happy, healthy and wealthy. She underlined the importance of emotional health and meditation in teachers, parents and students.
Mr. SP Singh, Vice Chancellor of Gulburga University, said there is a need for quality value education in schools and colleges. The right education is granted with right understanding, right thought and right action. It is of utmost importance to gain clarity in the minds of students.
Mr. Ashwin Fernandes, Regional Director for QS Intelligence Unit for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, said education holds significance for a greater tomorrow. Today education is available in different forms as flexible education, affordable education. Life skills should be added for continuous improvement. He stressed that touch of a spiritual angle would connect the missing dots in today’s education system as India is bestowed with rich spiritual wisdom.
Other dignitaries addressing the Conference included Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE; Major Harsh Kumar, Secretary, NCERT; Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, VC, JNU, Delhi; Prof. SP Singh, VC, Lucknow University, Lucknow (UP); Prof. Ramesh Goyal, VC, Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University, Delhi; Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mishra, Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Samastipur (Bihar); Prof. S.P. Melkeri, VC, Gulbarga University, Gulbarga (KT); Dr. Madhukar Maruti Waware, Deputy Director, AICTE and others.
Spiritual Leaders and senior Rajyogis including BK Shukla Didi, BK Chakradhari and BK Pushpa also shared their spiritual wisdom and suggested plans for the New Education Policy.

राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति में सुझाव के लिए बढ़ी अवधि
नई दिल्ली : शिक्षा समाज व देश की रीढ़ की हड्डी होती है और यह सम्मेलन एक समाज, एक देश नहीं अपितु समूचे विश्व के लिए विचार विमर्श हेतू है क्योंकि मूल्यों एवं आध्यात्मिकता सभी को आवश्यकता है, इसी से सुख शान्ति की प्राप्ति होती है जो सभी की जरूरत है। हम विश्व को अपना परिवार मानते है और परिवार में प्यार होता है। यह बात केन्द्रीय मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्री डॉ0 रमेश पोखरियाल ने ब्रह्मा कुमारी संस्था के शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा भारत सरकार के मानव संसाधन विकास मंत्रालय के साथ स्थानीय अम्बेडकर इंटरनेशन सेन्टर में आज आयोजित नये ज्ञान द्वारा नया भारत राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन के उद्घाटन भाषण में कहीं।
माननीय प्रधानमंत्री के नये भारत निर्माण के संकल्प के साकार करने के संदर्भ में उन्होंने कहा कि लीडरशिप में इच्छा शक्ति होती है तो सारे परिवर्तन स्वतः होने लगते हैं और यह नई शिक्षा नीति उसी को सृदढ़ करने के लिए है जिससे देश शिखर पर पहुँच जायेगा।
उन्होंने ब्रह्मा कुमारी द्वारा 140 देशों में मूल्य शिक्षा के प्रंशसा करते हुए कहा कि आपका सोचना, बोलना, करना और उसका रिजल्ट इन्हीं विचारों को लेकर जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने ब्रह्मा कुमारी के शिक्षा प्रभाग द्वारा विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों के मूल्यनिष्ठ शिक्षा पाठ्यकम्र की गतिविधियों पर संकलित पुस्तिका का विमोचन किया तथा उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति में सुझाव के लिए दो सप्ताह समय अवधि बढ़ाने का भी ऐलान किया।
ब्रह्मा कुमारी शिक्षा प्रभाग के अध्यक्ष तथा कार्यक्रम के मुख्य संयोजक ब्र0कु0मृत्युंजय ने कहा कि भारत सरकार की नई शिक्षा नीति में मूल्यनिष्ठ शिक्षा एवं आध्यमिक चरित्र उत्थान प्रणाली को शामिल करने के साथ-साथ हर शैक्षणिक संस्थान में आत्मचिंतन, प्रभुचिन्तन तथा मेडिटेशन की चिन्तन प्रयोगशाला का भी प्राविधान होना जरूरी है।
उन्होंने आगे कहा कि बाहरी वातावरण स्वच्छता के साथ-साथ मानसिक स्वच्छता और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए स्कूल कॉलेज विधार्थीयों को वृक्षारोपण और जल संरक्षण की दिशा में प्रेरित और प्रोत्साहित करने की आवश्यकता है। ब्रह्मा कुमारी संस्था द्वारा चलायी जा रही क्लीन द माईन्ड एण्ड ग्रीन द अर्थ अभियान इसी पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में है। भारत को विश्व गुरू बनाने की दिशा में उन्होंने भारत सरकार से एक ग्लोबल आध्यात्मिक विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना की अपील भी की।
सुप्रसिद्ध प्रेरणादायी वक्ता ब्र0कु0शिवानी ने कहा कि स्कूल एवं कॉलेजो में पहला आधा घण्टा आध्यात्मिक शिक्षा का होना चाहिए, क्योंकि जो पढ़ते है, देखते हैं, सुनते हैं उसी से हमारे संस्कार बनते है और संस्कार से ही हमारा संसार बनता है। साथ ही संस्कार रूपी खुराक अच्छी हो तो हमारी इमोशनल हैल्थ अच्छी होगी जिससे मन की बिमारी डिप्रेशन के शिकार नहीं होगें।
यू.जी.सी.के अध्यक्ष प्रो0डी.पी.सिंह ने इस अवसर पर कहा कि भारत सरकार शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में सकारात्मक बदलाव कर रही है। शिक्षा में अध्यात्म और ध्यान बच्चों को सही दृष्टिकोण, जीवन जीने की कला और श्रेष्ठ संस्कार सिखायेगा जिससे उनका जीवन में सर्वांगीण विकास होगा।
मिडिल ईस्ट, उत्तरी अफ्रिका व दक्षिण एशिया के क्यू.एस. इन्टेलीजेन्स यूनिट के निदेशक अश्विन ने कहा कि नई शिक्षा प्रणाली में लाईफ स्क्लि और आध्यात्मिक प्रज्ञा को जोड़ने की आवश्यकता है।
रूड़की के प्रोफसर व लेखक डॉ0 योगेन्द्र नाथ शर्मा ने कहा कि हमें संस्कार परिवार से मिलते है और शिक्षा स्कूल में मिलती हैं। अभिभावकों को अपनी इच्छा को बच्चों पर थोपना नहीं चाहिए।
रशिया स्थित ब्रह्मा कुमारी सेवाकेन्द्रों की निदेशिका राजयोगिनी चक्रधारी ने कहा कि अस्पतालों, वकीलों, जजों, थानों की संख्या बढ़ती जा रही है जिससे यह पता चलता है कि हम कितने अस्वस्थ हैं और कितनों झगड़ों में फंसते जा रहे हैं जिसका कारण है मन का अस्वस्थ होना। हम बाहरी स्वच्छता का तो ध्यान दे रहे हैं किन्तु उससे ज्यादा जरूरी है आन्तरिक स्वच्छता जिसे राजयोग की शिक्षा से प्राप्त कर जीवन को स्वस्थ, समृद्ध, सुसंस्कारित एवं सुखी बना सकते है।
ब्रह्मा कुमारी के ओमशान्ति रीट्रिट सेन्टर की निदेशिका ब्र0कु0शुक्ला ने बताया कि संस्था द्वारा 1937 से ही भारत के नव निर्माण की कलम लगाने का कार्य प्रारम्भ किया जा चुका है जो लाखों लोगों में आध्यात्मिक शिक्षा द्वारा जीवन में सकारात्मक परिवर्तन ला रहा है।
दोपहर के सत्र में ‘चहुंमुखी स्वास्थ्य एवं पर्यावरण जागृति’ विषय पर आयोजित संगोष्ठी पर सुप्रसिद्ध प्रेरणादायी वक्ता ब्र0कु0शिवानी एवं दिल्ली फॉमासुटीकल साईसिंस एण्ड रिसर्च यूनिवर्सिटी के उप कुलपति प्रो0 रमेश के.गोयल ने अपने विचार व्यक्त किये।
सम्मेलन के सायंकालीन पत्र में ‘समाजिक परिवर्तन के लिए नया ज्ञान’ विषय पर जामिया हमदर्द विश्वविद्यालय के सईद अखतर, रेवेनशा विश्वविद्यालय के पूर्व उपकुलपति बैशनव चरण त्रिपाठी, डॉ0 राजेन्द्र प्रसाद केन्द्रीय एग्रीकल्चर विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो0 प्रफुल्ल कुमार मिश्रा, पंताजली विश्वविद्यालय के उपकुलपति प्रो0 महावीर, अखिल भारतीय तकनीकी शिक्षा काउंसिल के अध्यक्ष डॉ0 ंअनिल डी.सहस्रबुद्धे आदि शिक्षाविद्ों ने अपने विचार रखे।
