Drug-free India campaign program in Hathras

Hathras ( Uttar Pradesh ) : It is a good fortune of India that the country has the largest youth population in the world but it is unfortunate that the youth is becoming a victim of drug addiction today. From alcohol, tobacco, drug injections to solution whitener and don’t know what else is being used by the youth and teenagers for intoxication today. The government is constantly trying to stop this menace. Many efforts are being made to remove drugs from the vicinity of educational institutions and create awareness. Many organizations are also coming forward. Today the need is to take everyone along in the fight against drugs. Dr. Devendra Sharma, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh State Child Rights Protection Commission, expressed these views after the program organized under the war against drugs and drug free India campaign organized at Hathras festival.

Hathras Uttar Pradesh’s Shanti Bhawan Anandpuri Colony Service Centre, in collaboration with the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and Medical Wing of Rajyoga Education Research and Foundation started the drug-free India campaign.

Drug-free India campaign under three different programs began under the supervision of Hathras Anandpuri Colony Centre Director, BK Shanta.

The first event was organized under the Hathras festival in which a soulful dance-drama presentation “If you want to live, father don’t drink Alcohol”.

On this occasion a message was given by Dr. Devendra Sharma, Chairman of Uttar Pradesh State Child Rights Protection Commission and Archana Verma, District Officer. Many officers and employees including all the Anganwadi workers, District Chief Development Officer, Deputy District magistrate, CO City, District Drug Inspector and District Excise Officer were present on the occasion.

In the second event, an oath was administered to all the attendees of the morning Rajyoga class to stay away from drugs and to keep their families and society away from drugs and bring awareness about the same.

In the third event, an exhibition on drug-free India was organized at Hathras Railway Station under the supervision of Station Master Vipin Kumar Sharma. The station master came forward and donated his addiction to Brahma Kumari’s donation box. The passengers at the railway station took benefit of the exhibition.

It may be noted that Anandpuri Colony Centre campaigned continuously for 11 years from the year 2012 till 2023 under “My India Drug Free India” campaign. In this campaign in hundreds of villages, most of the schools and colleges of Hathras, Police Line, District Magistrate’s Office, Vikas Bhawan, Agriculture Office, many government offices and non-governmental organizations, thousands of people were not only made aware against drugs but were also freed from  drugs.

The efforts of Anandpuri Colony Centre Director BK Shanta and BK Uma, Shweta, Vandana, Lovely and BK Gajendra and BK Dinesh in managing the program was commendable.
