We have experienced how, in an instant, destiny can rewrite our future — taking something precious from us. In the midst of this experience, our hearts fill with anguish and sorrow, and we may feel like it is too much to bear.
The salve in such a moment is love, the compassion of friends and those who, even though they don’t know us by name, know our hearts and offer us the gift of their purest feelings of support.
When this happens, we do not want to be alone. The company of God, even if we’re not completely clear about who God is, can heal the soul and bring comfort in the moment of our disorientation and sadness.
It will take time to process all that has happened. We can soothe our souls by remembering the gifts we’ve received from those we have lost. The love and joy they gave is with us forever, and we turn within to consider how we will go on. Together, we create a community of support for those who have been affected by the collapse of the Surfside condominium, including the hundreds of emergency workers and volunteers working around the clock to assist. We are also grateful for the local, state, and federal officials whose leadership and cooperation are critical during this time.
