Andhra Pradesh Governor appreciates Brahma Kumaris for spreading divinity in the society

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Governor of Chhattisgarh Ms. Anusuiya Uikey strongly emphasize the need for holistic education during the International Education e-Conference.

Mount Abu ( Rajasthan ): Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said that holistic development through education from the early stage of a child’s life has become more important today, especially in the midst of the crisis which all are facing now. The Governor has participated as Chief Guest at the “International Education e-Conference” on the theme of ‘Holistic Education for Excellence in Life’ organised by the Brahma Kumaris Education Wing on Saturday.

Delivering the inaugural address at the two-day conference held in virtual mode, the Governor said that as predicted by learned thinkers and philosophers, the world that would emerge from the ruins of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic would be a completely different world, quite unlike the world we have seen or experienced before. “Through holistic development, children will be equipped with intellectual, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual capabilities to face the demands and challenges of everyday life, and real-world education helps every child find his or her unique place in the world in alignment with their innate values,” he said.

The Governor said that the present situation is leading to higher levels of uncertainty among the children as they are living in constrained environments and the parents are worried about their future, adding that the personal, professional, and social lives will go through a metamorphosis, and perhaps a new set of social norms will be in place to guide and help us through the emerging paradigm shift. In these times of unprecedented fear, anxiety and uncertainty, the best way forward would be to re-focus on the concept of ‘man-making’ or ‘life-giving’ education and appreciated the efforts of Brahma Kumaris for spreading divinity in the society by teaching spiritual and moral values.

Honorable Governor of Chhattisgarh Ms. Anusuiya Uikey said, “I feel delighted and honored to be a part of the program ‘Holistic Education for Excellence in Life’ held by Brahma Kumaris. The topic of today’s time is quite essential as per today’s need. Today, there is a great influence of western culture in our society. We are not giving that much importance to ethical values and a humanistic perspective. In a true sense, excellence in life means to not just run after materialistic progress but also imbibe authentic values like mercy, sympathy, etc.  Holistic education is the only source to cultivate in ourselves the value of helping others.”

She continued, “Technical, business, trade, and medical education enhance worldly life potential. But, today getting a high status in the materialistic world is considered to be the only definition of being successful. Today, parents are putting a lot of pressure on their children for scoring high in studies, resulting in more depression cases among students. Have we heard of such institutions which are working to build good humans with moral values in them?  Are parents more concerned to get their children enrolled in such institutions? Which all institutions can guarantee to bring moral values in students?  Seeing the situation of today’s world, it seems the result is quite low.”

“The safety of our country,” she said, “is in the hands of citizens with a pure lifestyle, moral values, good character, and being loyal in every aspect. Today, there is the need for the students to live their lives free from depression, drugs, and fear, thus surrendering their lives for the betterment of the nation.”

“It is high time to contemplate holistic education for positive change in our society. Brahma Kumaris have the great experience to teach moral and spiritual knowledge, bringing excellence in one’s life. The Educational Department and Government can make good use of this experience to bring positivity and holistic change. This is the need and call of today’s time,” she said.

Dr. BK Mruthyunjaya, Chairperson of the Education Wing of the Raja Yoga Education & Research Foundation and Executive Secretary of Brahma Kumaris; Rajyogini BK Sheilu, National Coordinator of the Education Wing of the Raja Yoga Education & Research Foundation; Rajyogini BK Jayanti, Regional Co-ordinator of Brahma Kumaris in Europe and the Middle East; and Charles Hogg, Regional Coordinator, Brahma Kumaris Australia, also participated in the conference.
