Miami ( USA ): Energizing body & spirit through drumming & percussion with Willie Stewart . Media Producer- host Meredith Porte along with meditator Marianne Weiss who is also the Vice President of Non-profit in Miami was in conversation with the Miami award-winning international musician Willie Stewart. Celebrated drummer/percussionist/music director Willie Stewart performed with the internationally known band Third World for 23 years (remember the hit song Now that we found love., what are we gonna do with it?). During that time, this reggae band produced 13 albums of which five received Grammy nominations. Willie has recorded and performed with renowned artists such as Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, and Bob Marley. Willie is most proud of his and the band members’ strong humanitarian work. Their commitment to peace has resulted in receiving many awards, including the United Nations “Peace Medal”, two NAACP Image Awards nominations, and the Diamond Award of Washington DC.
After retiring from Third World, Willie has continued to be a force for good when he became the co-founder and Chairman of Embrace Music Foundation. He now uses his musical talents and experience to uplift and transforms the lives of teenagers and their families.
