‘Self-Reliant Farmer’ National Conference Held At Berhampur

Berhampur ( Odisha ): “India suffered acute food paucity around Independence when our 35 crore agrarian population lived in abject poverty. Thanks to green revolution initiated by Former Prime Minister LB Shastri, the mindset of farmers remained unchanged in the absence of moral and spiritual education. Hence, there was need to uplift their lot through yoga and meditation.”

Rajyogi BK Raju, vice-chairman of Agricultural and Rural Development, Mount Abu (Rajasthan), said this while speaking on farmers’ empowerment as part of the National Conference on ‘Atma Nirbhar Krushak Bharatara Gourav’ at Prabhu Uphar Retreat Centre (PURC), Ramachandrapur near here on Monday.

PURC director Rajyogini BK Mala who introduced the guests called upon participants to join a rally meant to awaken farmers at the grassroots. She guided a meditation on commentary among the participants. She also read out a message from Odisha Assembly Speaker Surya Narayan Patra for the occasion.

GRASIM Ganjam district unit head Digvijay Pandey who attended the confab appreciated the sustainable efforts, micro-level man management of Brahma Kumaris.

Ganjam district ATMA deputy project director Ajay Mohapatra and other guests planted germinated seeds on the occasion. Mohapatra said organic farming is the need of the hour when the fertility of land is under depletion due to chemical fertilizers and pesticide.

Rajyogi Sumanth from Mt Abu said good farming depends on elements that are naturally procured from surrounding by cultivators to raise food grains for humanity with a positive outlook.

Rajyogi Sashikant from Mt Abu hoped all cultivators to get back to traditional farming methods to procure unadulterated output.

Bramha Kumaris Berhampur Sub-zone in-charge Rajayogini BK Manju offered her blessings on the occasion.

A three-day training program for cultivators’ empowerment followed after the inaugural event.
