Mahatma Gandhi De-Addiction Award to BKs

Chandrapur, Maharashtra: The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Services of the State of Maharashtra introduced in the year 2012 the Mahatma Gandhi Award to be presented annually to organizations that are doing remarkable services in the field of De-addiction, Social Justice and Empowerment.

For the last 7 years, since its inception, the Brahma Kumaris have been awarded for their relentless Social Services. This Award for 2018 – 2019 is being given to the Brahma Kumaris of Kalyan from the Thane District. They have been rendering services for the past 15 years. Within 3 months they made 60,000 students of 225 schools aware of the disastrous effects of addictions.

 The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of the Government of Maharashtra commended the Brahma Kumaris with the Mahatma Gandhi De-addiction Award which was presented by the Minister of Social Justice and Special Assistance Mr. Rajkumar Badole, Minister of Finance and Planning Forests Mr. Sudhir Mungantiwar, and the President of the 7th De-Addiction Sahitya Sammelan Padmashree Dr. Abhay Bang to BK Alka, BK Dr. Bharati and BK Jyoti.

BK Dr. Sachin Parab addressed the 7th State Level De-Addiction conference on the topic “Narcotics and Its Management.”

It is truly remarkable and a matter of great pride for the Brahma Kumaris to receive this state level award.
