Chamarajpet, Bangalore ( Karnataka ): Brahma Kumaris Chamarajpet organized World Environment Day in which Saalumarada Thimmakka, aged 107 years, was the special guest of the event, an Indian environmentalist from the state of Karnataka and noted for her work in planting and tending to 385 banyan trees in a four-kilometer stretch of highway between Hulikal and Kudur in Karnataka. She has also planted nearly 8,000 other trees. The Government of India has recognised her services with a Padmashree award from Honourable President Ramnath Kovind.
Mr. Sridhar, President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kokila Chandrashekar Corporator, Chamrajpet were also part of the event. Speaker BK Manjunath and Rajayogini BK Padma, Sub-zonal Director of the Brahma Kumaris in Bangalore City, gave inspirational speeches and shared about the importance of nature.
Participants were gifted with flower pots, symbolic of making their lives like flowers.
All participants and the special guest together planted a sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The United Nations congratulated the Brahma Kumaris for participating in the World Environment Day celebration and planting trees to reduce and prevent air pollution.

विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस पर कार्यक्रम
चमराजपेट, बेंगलुरु ( कर्नाटक)। विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस के अवसर पर ब्रह्मा कुमारीज की ओर से एक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया, जिसमें 107 वर्षीय सालूमार्दा थिम्मक्का मुख्य अतिथि थीं। सालूमार्दा एक ऐसी पर्यावरणविद हैं जिन्होंने चार किलोमीटर के दायरे में 385 बरगद के पेड़ लगाए हैं। वैसे, अब तक वे आठ हजार से अधिक पेड़ लगा चुकी हैं। इनके इस योगदान को देखते हुए भारत सरकार ने इन्हें पद्मश्री से भी नवाजा है। इस दौरान कन्नड़ साहित्य परिषद के अध्यक्ष श्रीधर, कॉरपोरेटर कोकिला चंद्रशेखर भी उपस्थित थे। मुख्य वक्ता बीके मंजूनाथ और राजयोगिनी बीके पद्मा ने प्रकृति की महत्ता पर प्रकाश डालते हुए प्रेरणादायी संबोधन दिया। प्रतिभागियों को उपहार में एक-एक गमले दिए गए। संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने भी ब्रह्मा कुमारीज के कार्यों की सराहना की है।
