“World Diabetes Day” Celebrations at Brahma Kumaris HQ

Abu Road ( Rajasthan ): On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Medical Wing of the Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation (RERF), in collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris Organization, held an awareness program in Shantivan on Abu Road, its  international headquarters. Many prominent personalities were present on this occasion, including Dadi Janki, Head of the Brahma Kumaris; Dadi Ratanmohini, Joint Head of the Brahma Kumaris; BK Mruthyunjaya, Executive Secretary of the Brahma Kumaris and Director of Value Education; Dr. Banarasi Lal Shah, Director of Ever Healthy Hospital, Shantivan; Dr. Shrimant Sahu from Global Hospital, Mount Abu; BK Santosh, Zonal Head of the Brahma Kumaris, Maharashtra; BK Asha, Zonal In-charge of the Brahma Kumaris, Delhi; Dinesh Acharya; Tehsildar Sirohi; Anand Kumar, Circle Inspector, Abu Road; Shiv Kumar, Group Captain, Air Force station, Mount Abu; and BK Kanta, Zonal In-charge, Indore. Many people from all over the country took part in this program.

A rally for public awareness on diabetes was taken out by members of the Brahma Kumaris in Shantivan earlier in the day.

Dadi Janki, Head of the Brahma Kumaris, in her address said that by paying attention to the self, we can be free of tension. No stress means no disease. One should take care of oneself to escape disease.

Dadi Ratanmohini, Joint Head of the Brahma Kumaris, said that we must stay away from negative thoughts and emotions, as these are the root cause of disease. Remaining in constant remembrance of the Supreme Soul can easily keep us away from all negativity. We must endeavor to keep control on our senses and avoid eating junk food.

Dr. Banarasilal Shah, Director of the Ever-Healthy Hospital, Shantivan, Trustee and Treasurer of Global Hospital, Secretary of the Medical Wing of RERF, organizer of more than 50 Mind-Body Medicine conferences all over the country, Project Director of “My India, Healthy India” and “My India, Intoxicant-Free India,” gave the welcome speech. He said that this gathering is one of the largest today on World Diabetes Day. Quoting statistics, he said that there are 15 crore (150 million) diabetic patients in India and 35 crore (350 million) in the world today. About 10 lakh (1 million) deaths occur annually in India because of it, with one death in every 6 seconds. It is a slow poison. But it can be controlled with a Rajayogi Lifestyle. This has been practically demonstrated by conducting camps on patients in Shantivan and in Global Hospital in Mount Abu.

Dr. Shrimant Sahu from Global Hospital, MBBS, MD, Diploma in Diabetology, organizer of more than 300 programs on diabetes all over the world, explained the many aspects of this disease through a video presentation. He said that with lifestyle correction, diabetes is 100% preventable and curable. He asked every person of the divine family suffering from this disease to pledge and become free of it through Rajayoga. In this way the Brahma Kumaris should become an example of total health through Rajayoga in front of the world. Awareness is the key to prevention. That is why the Brahma Kumaris is organizing all these programs.

Anand Kumar, Circle Inspector, Abu Road, said that the need of the hour is to put all this information on diabetes into practice.

Shiv Kumar, Group Captain of the Air Force station on Abu Road, said that he is very fortunate to receive the blessings of Dadis on his very first visit. He cited the example of his own family to demonstrate the effect of diabetes on the families of the patients. Lifestyle correction can be an effective way to combat this epidemic of diabetes.

BK Santosh, Zonal Head of the Brahma Kumaris, Maharashtra, talked about the importance of leading a spiritual rule-based, disciplined life in disease prevention. Keeping the mind healthy with Rajayoga prevents all diseases.

Dr. Vinny from Global Hospital expressed gratitude for such initiatives. We must all pledge to educate at least five people about diabetes. Living a balanced life is the key to diabetes prevention.
