“VIHASA” Medical Programme for Doctors by Brahma Kumaris of Nagpur

Nagpur ( Maharashtra ):  The Brahma Kumaris of the Vasanta Nagar centre organised a three-day workshop entitled “Values in Health Services: A Spiritual Perspective“.

Inaugurating the workshop, Dr. Sajal Mitra, Dean of Government Medical College, Nagpur, invited all doctors to join the programme to feel a remarkable change in personal life. Dr. Mitra also mentioned that, after forty years of professional practice as a doctor, today he realized that we need to build ourselves strong internally. Recalling Swami Vivekananda, he said that we need to talk to ourselves every day. Appreciating the module of the project, he said that we can distribute the benefit of this project in society. He further mentioned that the training programme will empower doctors to extend their services with a positive thought and vision.

Addressing all, Nagpur centre-in-charge of the Brahma Kumaris Rajyogini BK Rajani said that the work of the Supreme Soul makes the impossible possible. She shared with the participants about the construction of the Auditoriums in Vishwa Shanti Sarovar in Jamatha amidst a peaceful environment.

Briefing about the three-day project for doctors, BK Dr. Sujata from Mumbai said that this self-development programme for doctors is to re-establish values amidst the stress caused by troubles in personal as well as family life. She mentioned that the programme is a brainchild of Dadi Jankiji, Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, who discovered doctors doing their job without exaltation [without joy, elevated well-being, or praise]. Therefore, she initiated this programme to recharge doctors.

Organised by The Janki Foundation, UK, the programme launched in India by former president of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam aims at inculcating values among doctors — not by mere lectures but through self-introspection. She read aloud the seven tools of the project: meditation, visualisation, understanding, appreciation, listening, creativity and playfulness in practice in the long journey to be a human being and being human.

Lauding the efforts of the Brahma Kumaris, President of Indian Medical Association of Nagpur Dr. Jhunjhunwala said that the project is a preventive which should be consumed by all before falling sick.

Dr. Manoj Patlani described the three- day schedule of the project in which more than two hundred doctors enrolled.
