Kottamedu village spiritually adopted by Brahma Kumaris, Adyar

Adyar ( Tamil Nadu ): Brahma Kumaris, Adyar celebrated Deepavali with the people of Kottamedu village. Kottamedu village is located in Thiruporur taluk, Chengalpattu district.  Deepavali programme was organised at the community hall for the villagers.

Since 2015, Kottamedu village was spiritually adopted by Brahma Kumaris, Adyar under Enn Gramam – Ponnana Gramam (My Village – Golden Village) Divyanagari project. Nearly 150 families reside in this village. They predominantly belong to Irular tribal community. More than 50 people have taken Rajayoga course conducted by the volunteers of Brahma Kumaris and practicing meditation on a regular basis.

Free weekly special meditation camps, value education programs, women health care programs, special programmes for students, training for physical and mental health, drug de- addiction, entertainment program are conducted periodically for the welfare of tribal people .

Every year Brahma Kumaris celebrate Deepavali with them. This year they had deepavali celebrations in a grand way.  The program was graced by the divine presence of Rajayogini Dr. BK Muthumani, Director of Brahma Kumaris, Adyar.  The Panchayat President Mrs. Sasikala Kannapiran, Vice President Mrs. Tulsi Thirunavukarasu and ward members Mr. Mohan, Mr.Vijayabaskar, Mrs. Jothilakshmi, Mr.Subramani and Mr. Sasikumar graced the occasion as special guests.

More than 150 villagers participated and enjoyed the program. Special gifts, Diwali dresses and divine food was distributed to all of them. Children from that community performed cultural programs and entertained the audience.

Few of them shared their experiences of practicing Rajayoga meditation on how it changed the way and quality of their life. In addition to it, tree sapling was done commemorating the event. At the end of the program, BK Muthumani visited every house individually and conveyed Deepavali wishes to them and it was a very great day for the whole village.
