Generating a Positive Change to Help Our World : Online Talk on 2nd October

Manchester ( UK ): Generating a Positive Change to Help Our World, a Free Online Event on Saturday 2 October from 6.30pm – 7.30pm BST.

How could each one of us be part of the solution for a world in need?

Our world is sick and we are all witnessing it at the level of climate, of human health, of biodiversity.

Many of us have experienced the joy, the lightness, the relief that comes when we find a way to appreciate the ideas of others and reach an agreement. We enjoy the sense of connection and security that results when people we look up to deliver the same message and honour shared values. With COP26 just a few weeks away, how can we as individuals help to bring positive difference?  Could we help world leaders to move forward together with a united vision?

We know that activism in the form of marches, demonstrations, lobbying and petitions can be a catalyst for change. In today’s talk, Valériane Bernard shares her experiences of how the ‘quiet activism’ of awareness-raising and a spiritual perspective can support the change-makers and fuel changes on a local or global level.

Since 1992, Valériane Bernard has been actively involved in the ecological movement,  promoting sustainable development and raising public awareness about the forces that drive climate change. Underpinning these community-based activities is her interest in spirituality.  From a young age, Valériane foresaw that only genuine personal engagement between people could create quality of life in the human family. This insight led her to an active spiritual life from the age of 25, committing to peace through meditation and creating tools of awareness to advance the condition of women, promote fair relationships with our environment, resolve workplace disharmony and through interfaith gatherings within the community, broaden cultural understanding.  Valériane’s refined ability to work with people from different cultural contexts has been an asset for bringing ethics and values into the workplace, improving teamwork and customer relations, and aiding conflict resolution. She has produced radio programs on the theme of culture of peace, personal development, and quality of life in Costa Rica and was the Assistant to the Director at the NGO Ecole Instrument de Paix, Geneva, Switzerland.

Valériane has made her home in six countries and is fluent in four languages.  Currently living near the France-Switzerland border, she continues to build bridges of understanding between cultures as the Brahma Kumaris’ representative to the United Nations in Geneva.
