Tyumen ( Russia ): When God touches the heart, It blooms like a flower, Spring blooms in it again (Brahma Kumaris)
The venue of the Center of Spiritual Development of the Brahma Kumaris was located near the attraction with swans, next to the aid center “Mercy” at the Festival of Sobriety. Songs were played about the creation blooming after having restored its connection with the Creator. Everyone’s favorite game “Virtuescope” attracted both children and adults. All wanted to know their unique virtues with sincere interest. Inspired by what they learned about themselves, the guests and participants of the program continued their walk with joyful faces, in a great mood and with sweets! Many said that peace was the main thing they needed in life. Many people also received answers to their questions.
Serviceable souls from the Brahma Kumaris talked to different people: former alcoholics, Christians, participants and organizers of the event, pensioners, and couples with children. Various topics were touched upon: character, moral values, soul and God, vegetarianism, karma philosophy, also relationships between men and women. We exchanged contacts with those who were interested, and shared knowledge and an experience of spirituality through the Dobroskop, blessing / virtue cards for adults, Positive Thoughts, children’s blessing cards, Character of the winner, and toli.
Due to this service, a very warm relationship was forged with the Charity Fund and the BK representatives were invited for service at two orphanages under the patronage of the Holy Trinity Monastery. The BKs were given permission to play Virtuescope and talk about moral values.
The holiday was filled with an atmosphere of joy, spirituality and mercy.
Sobriety Day has been marked in Russia since 1911. This is a holiday which should be held, preserving primarily the sobriety of reason, rejoicing at the possibility of joyful communication with dear ones, making great efforts with all our strength to make sobriety the norm of every day life. World Sobriety Day is an opportunity to remind society of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, not only for the happiness of every family, but also for the nation in general.
This holiday is dedicated to an important event in the Orthodox church world: on this day, religious people mark the Beheading of the Holy Prophet John the Baptist. This holiday has always included a very strict fast prohibiting meat, milk, eggs and alcohol.
In this way, the clergy and representatives of the scientific intelligentsia wanted to unite society, proposing the values of a healthy lifestyle, creation, creativity, and reason rather than alcohol dependence.
The holiday was marked for the eighth time in the city of Tyumen. The regional sobriety day was organized by the Church and Social Movement “Obzhsee delo” (« Common Concern»). Interactive venues were organized, master classes, family quests, and sporting events were held on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, which is famous as a favorite vacation place for residents of the city, in the center of Tyumen. More than 200 people were involved in this event. The holiday opened with a concert of the Tobolsk Orthodox Church Theological Seminary. At the same time the action “White Flower” took place to collect charity donations. The participants congratulated each other on the festival of sobriety, thinking of spiritual awakening and the soul’s aspiration for the light of wisdom.
