Brahma Kumaris Observe Remembrance Day of Brahma Baba as “World Peace Day”

Mount Abu ( Rajasthan ): The 53rd Ascension Anniversary of Prajapita Brahma, the Founder of the Brahma Kumaris, is observed as World Peace Day all over the world. It was on 18th January, 1969, that Prajapita Brahma, lovingly called “Brahma Baba,” left his mortal body. The World Headquarters of the Brahma Kumaris in Mount Abu witnessed a gathering from all over the world to honor Brahma Baba. A special tribute was paid to Brahma Baba in Pandav Bhawan at the Tower of Peace.

Rajyogini BK Dadi Ratanmohini, Chief of the Brahma Kumaris; BK Brijmohan, Additional Secretary General of Brahma Kumaris, BK Dr. Nirmala, Joint Chief of the Brahma Kumaris; BK Shashi, Joint Chief of the Brahma Kumaris, and hundreds of thousands from across the globe paid their silent tributes by virtually visiting the four pilgrimage places — Baba’s Room, Baba’s Hut,  History Hall and the Tower of Peace — in the loving remembrance of Brahma Baba.

Pandav Bhawan, Gyan Sarovar and Shantivan campuses were tastefully decorated in a very creative and attractive way. Special meditation sessions and classes sharing the life story and specialities of Brahma Baba were organized throughout the day at all three campuses, and the atmosphere was filled with the fragrance of peace and tranquility.

In the evening, the main event will take place in the Diamond Hall of Shantivan. All the main spiritual leaders following Baba’s example, including Dadi Ratanmohini, Head of the Brahma Kumaris;  BK Nirwair, General Secretary; BK Brij Mohan, Additional General Secretary; BK Munni, BK Dr. Nirmala and BK Shashi, Joint Head of Brahma Kumaris; BK Karuna, Chief Spokesman; and BK Mruthyunjyaya, Executive Secretary, will be present on the stage to personally interact with the audience.

About Brahma Baba – The Protector of Mankind

Dada Lekhraj, born in the 1880s into a humble home, was the son of a village schoolmaster who later became a prosperous diamond merchant in India. At the age of 60, he had a vision of the bright light of the Supreme Soul. This changed his life. He was then named Brahma Baba. The Supreme Soul gave Brahma Baba the goal to make himself pure and divine. He became an instrument to help others do the same. Brahma Baba, his family, and friends dedicated their lives and wealth to open a university, named the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

Brahma Baba was not a guru or a saint. He was the first dedicated student of the University. Graceful and seemingly always in motion – that was Brahma Baba. Baba’s religious devotion and his righteous tendencies of mind were so mature and so powerful that whatever the occasion, the fire of virtue could be felt to burn within his every act. Brahma Baba became the instrument to uplift thousands with a special virtue of generosity. He surrendered his wealth for the establishment and sustenance of the then young organization. He especially educated the mothers and the young women who did not receive formal schooling, as it was not a tradition for them to be educated in those days. He helped others develop their strengths by always highlighting their virtues, not their weakness. He sustained any soul who came in front of him with his wisdom, love, and respect.

Brahma Baba was a true visionary and a world server who envisioned a time when foreigners would come to Mount Abu to study Raja Yoga, too. He only had good wishes and pure feelings for everyone, and often thought of bringing benefit in the foreign lands. He would wake up at two o’clock in the morning for his deep meditation where he envisioned spreading rays of peace and love to the whole word. Anyone who came to Mount Abu for the first time was automatically drawn by his drishti, or his spiritual vision, and made him belong to them.

Establishing the Brahma Kumaris had its share of challenges, especially from the community that did not quite understand what was going on. Despite oppositions from families, Brahma Baba remained a carefree emperor. Instead of asking why certain things happened, he put a full-stop in every situation by thinking about its benefit. His faith in God as his one strength and support enabled him to be constantly unshakable. He became a living example for others to follow. Not only did Brahma Baba uplift the spiritually fallen ones to new heights of spirituality, but he applied to them that alchemy which transmuted them so much that they became instruments of ShivBaba, the Holiest of the holy. Brahma Baba had wheedled out of ShivBaba the secret about the Sanjivini – the mythical herb that can raise a dead person into life. So those who came to seek spiritual knowledge under his tutelage, he raised them from their state of being fallen, dead spirits, into new, vigorous, divine beings.

Brahma Baba, in his corporeal form, was unique in many ways. By his own high character, not only did he mould the character of those who came in touch with him, but his character moulded a new civilization out of the present degenerated one. It is these and many more qualities of him that come to our mind again and again, especially on 18th January, the date in the year 1969 when he gave his mortal coil to work at the subtle level and in an Angelic form, called Avyakt Brahma. The Tower of Peace in the Pandav Bhawan campus is a tribute to the invincible spirit of this ordinary human being who achieved greatness by rising to the challenge of the deeper truths of life.

Like an angel, Brahma Baba inspired and guided many people in realizing their inner beauty and connecting with the Supreme Soul. With complete and undivided faith in God, his personality was very royal, full of mercy, love and compassion for one and all, and he renounced everything he had in an unlimited way for the goodness of humanity.  He had excellent administration skills, great leadership qualities, and his egolessness and humility in serving the world are well remembered.
