Brahma Kumaris lead a Peace Meditation at the Indian Consulate, New York

New York ( USA ): The International Ahimsa Foundation based in tri-state along with the Indian Consulate in New York hosted a program celebrating Mahavir Jayanti focusing on Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankara of the Jain religion. The event also celebrated India’s year-long initiative ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (75 years of India’s independence).

Present at the lamp lighting ceremony were Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney with other chief guests, organizers, awardees, and speakers.

Among the speakers at the event were Dr. Jain, India’s Consul General in New York; Randhir Jaiswal, Congresswoman Grace Meng, D-NY; Padma Shri recipient Dr. Sudhir Parikh, chairman of Parikh Worldwide Media and ITV Gold which publishes Desi Talk; Professor of Religion Jeffrey Long from Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, and Israel’s Deputy Consul General Israel Nitzan.

BK Sister Sabita Geer, representing the Brahma Kumaris in the United States, led the gathering of 200 people with a moment of contemplation and meditation through breathing exercises.
